The Young Patrons Circle is a stimulating combination of opera, ballet, education and entertainment for young professionals and creatives, who are interested in being part of Dutch National Opera & Ballet innovative programme, culture and events scene.
The Young Patrons Circle will take you into the world of opera and ballet, open doors that are normally closed and introduce you to opera houses and their young patrons from all over the world. The Young Patrons Circle is a great platform for young professionals to enter the world of philanthropy while gaining valuable connection for the future.
As a young patron, not only will you enjoy exclusive benefits, but you will also develop a personal relationship with our institution.
You will be invited to an exciting series of opera and ballet evenings, both during premieres and behind the scenes, designed exclusively for the Young Patrons Circle (excluding ticket for the performances). This includes an annual gala with our opera singers, directors, dancers, choreographers and international partners, and the International Council. Single members are welcome to bring a guest to all events, from parties and performances to discussions with top singers, conductors, dancers, choreographers and the artistic staff of Dutch National Opera & Ballet.
As a young patron you get the change to come really close to the art form opera & ballet and the creative process. We are a production house: everything is made in house, from the wigs, shoes, costumes, hats, jewelry to the set with al its special effects. And our artists, from choreographer and directors to opera singers and ballet dancers, are alive (in comparison to many museums) and are very happy to tell the Young Patrons everything about their opera or ballet. Our events are very unique from a content and surrounding aspect. We like to surprise our patrons with each event we organize and innovate the way we present and talk about our operas and ballets.
For 175 Euro’s or 225 Euro’s net a year (depending on your annual income) you can become a ‘supporter’ of the Young Patrons Circle. This is only 15 or 19 euros a month. You can also choose to pay in installments (in consultation).
By joining the Young Patrons Circle, you can help shape the direction and future of Dutch National Opera & Ballet. At the annual gala the young patrons get the chance to vote which specific project the Young Patrons Circle will support with their donation within Dutch National Opera and Dutch National Ballet. Hereby they will get the opportunity to get even closer to our art forms. At least 80% of your donations will go directly to the our art forms, opera and ballet.
The engagement of young people in our art forms is essential for the future and further development of opera and ballet. Talking to young people, we see a keen awareness of the importance of arts and culture for our society. They feel strongly that art and culture should be supported and they have a thirst for knowledge about art, and opera and ballet in particular. The future of these art forms requires not only financial support, but also the moral support and commitment of young people – as visitors, consultants and patrons.
We should encourage everyone to think about what they want to salvage for the benefit of their children! Opera and ballet is our cultural heritage. It’s not a building you can protect or a painting you can restore. It’s something alive. So it constantly needs to be replayed, re-orches- trated, re-sung, re-danced. If that get’s lost, we can not dig it up in some attic – if an opera or ballet has not been performed for years neither the artists nor the audience will have an interest in it. So it needs to be kept alive.
In order to become and stay a sustainable circle we think it is very important that all different professions and backgrounds are represented in the Young Patrons Circle. Therefore we spent a lot of time and effort to make the circle as diverse as possible and a place where everybody feels welcome.
